Considered the father of Bollywood film music. He composed music for films between 1931 and 1960. These films included “Dena Paona,” “Chandidas” from 1932, and many other Hindi and Bengali films.
He learned to play the tabla when he was young, and later attended music conferences all over India.
He was given the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, the highest award in Indian cinema, in 1978.
His father Lal Chand Boral was a classical musician. He was the youngest of three sons.
He was called the Father of Indian Cinema Music by the late composer Anil Biswas.
