Versatile musician known as the soloist for the 1916 world premiere performance of Nights in the Gardens of Spain by Manuel de Falla.

He began studies at the Madrid Royal Conservatory when he was 11. His patron was Princess Isabella of Bourbon who was Queen Isabella II of Spain’s daughter.

He was honored with the Grand Cross of the Civil Order of Alfonso X, the Wise, as well as the French Legion of Honor.

His family noticed his musical gifts while he was still young, and he began piano lessons when he was five.

He played the piano part in Petrushka when Igor Stravinsky visited Spain on June 6, 1916, to premiere The Firebird and this ballet.
