Biography - A Short Wiki

Founder of the duo Mazzy Star who served as the group’s guitarist, songwriter and producer. He had also been part of bands called Rain Parade and Opal. 

He studied art at Carlton College and UC Berkeley. He and his band Rain Parade were part of the Paisley Underground indie music scene.

Kendra Smith was featured on his band Rainy Day’s lone album. They worked together again prior to his death on the re-release of Opal’s Happy Nightmare Baby and a compilation of the first EPs called Early Recordings. 

He and his brother Stephen Roback had a band called Unconscious.

He produced songs for the Beth Orton album Central Reservation and performed on Bert Jansch’s 2006 album The Black Swan.
