Classical musician who knew more than 100 concertos, including works by Beethoven, Liszt, Brahms, Tchaikovsky, and Stravinsky.

He was awarded a Churchill Fellowship when he was 13, becoming the youngest recipient at that point.

He considered Melbourne pianist Noel Mewton-Wood to be ‘the most stimulating and intellectually powerful pianist Australia has ever produced’ and arranged some of Mewton-Wood’s music from 1944’s Tawny Pipit for solo piano.

His mother Veronica Tozer was also a talented pianist. She taught music to support her two sons after her divorce from Major-General Donald Tozer.

He was taught by Artur Schnabel’s last pupil, Maria Curcio, who was also Schnabel’s favorite pupil.
