Renowned rugby footballer who has been inducted into the Welsh Sports Hall of Fame. He won the Rugby League Challenge Cup with Bradford Northern in 1947 and 1949.

He began playing for Bradford Northern in 1938 and temporarily put his rugby career on hold to serve in the British Army during World War II.

He was never banished from play or even cautioned during his entire seventeen-year career in professional rugby.

He married his wife, Jean, in 1949.

He and Steve McNamara are both former rugby players who went on to coach the Bradford Bulls.
