Australian actor who played Howard Beale in the award-winning film, Network.
He was taken to India as a child, where he lived in a Buddhist monastery.
He died of a heart attack in 1977 and went on to become the first actor to receive a posthumous Oscar Award for Best Actor for his role in Network.
His parents named him Frederick George Peter Ingle Finch, and he was married four times and had three children.
He was the first person to win the Best Actor Oscar Award posthumously. The second person was Heath Ledger.
