Famous for her bestselling 1968 astrology book Linda Goodman’s Sun Signs, this popular New Age writer also published Linda Goodman’s Love Poems, Linda Goodman’s Love Signs, and Linda Goodman’s Star Signs, among other works.

Born Mary Alice Kemery, she took on the professional name of “Linda” while hosting a 1940s West Virginia radio program called Love Letters from Linda.

Her debut work, Linda Goodman’s Sun Signs, was the first astrology-themed publication to become a New York Times bestselling book.

Her first marriage, to William Snyder, resulted in children named Bill and Sally. With her second husband, Sam Goodman, she had a daughter named Jill and a son named Michael.

During the 1960s, she was a speechwriter for African-American civil rights activist Whitney Young.
