A popular writer for publications such as Ladies Home Journal and The Saturday Evening post, she also wrote several novels, including Miss Bishop (1933), that were made into films and television programs.

She graduated from the Iowa State Normal School and subsequently taught throughout the Western United States.

She won her first literary contest at age fourteen, and at the height of her fame had her Miss Bishop book made into a film, Cheers for Miss Bishop.

She had four children with her husband, Charles Aldrich.

Martha Scott starred in Cheers for Miss Bishop, a film based on Aldrich’s book.
