Actress who rose to fame for her prolific career in film and television. She was highly regarded for her roles as a scream queen in Hammer Show Production horror movies. Her film credits include The Gorgon, Rasputin, the Mad Monk, and Dracula, Prince of Darkness.
Initially shy on stage, she took up modeling in 1951 to gain self confidence at the suggestion of her acting teacher.
She appeared in the 1984 Doctor Who serial Planet of Fire. She also appeared in the TV show The Borgias in 1981.
She contracted COVID-19 in December 2020. She passed away shortly thereafter in January 2021.
She was interviewed by Mark Gatiss in 2010 about her career acting in Hammer Show Production horror films.
