He worked as a hydraulic engineer in his early adulthood.
He fought in World War II from 1941-1945.
He married the daughter of fellow Armenian poet Vahan Terian. Following his first wife’s death, he wed writer Armenouhi Hamparian.
He translated the work of renowned Polish poet Adam Mickiewicz.
